HOST FAMILIES NEEDED
The Connecticut Oilers, playing out of the SONO Ice Arena in Norwalk, are gearing up for the 2012-13 season, fielding junior teams from both the Empire Junior Hockey League and Eastern Junior Hockey League. We look forward to a very successful opening season as athletes from local communities and across the country as well as Canada and Europe vie for an opportunity to play in one of the most competitive junior leagues in North America. As we begin our 2012-2013 season, we are currently accepting applications for families to host these boys during the hockey season. "Billeting" is a hockey tradition and is especially important at the junior level. This concept involves local host families providing a surrogate home to out-of-state/country players. The billet program allows these players to complete their high school education, take college level courses and/or obtain part time employment in the local community while taking their hockey careers to the next level. A background check, an interview and home visit is required. While hosts receive a monetary stipend to help offset some of the basic costs such as food, the true rewards are in the lasting relationships that are formed. If you are interested in becoming a host family to a CT Oiler Junior Hockey player, for more info please contact Nancy James, our billet/housing coordinator via email at email@example.com
