Darien's Lombardo captures 5th in high jump at national track meet

Darien High School senior Nick Lombardo tied for fifth-place in the high jump at last weekend's New Balance National Indoor Track meet held at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York, N.Y. Lombardo cleared the bar at 6-foot 6-inches, four inches shy of the first-place finisher Paul Galas of Mississauga, ON.

Senior Catherine Lacy came in 20th for the girls long jump competition, and junior Maddie Schneider tied for 18th in the pole vault. Darien's 4 x 1600m boys team recorded a 14th-place finish. Meanwhile, the Blue Wave girls 4 x 200m notched the 25th- best time of their event. The boys 4 x 800m team earned a spot at the earlier Emerging Elite meet, where shot putter Spencer McKeough also competed, finishing fourth.
