Darien junior Alex Ostberg won the 5,000-meter title at the 2014 New Balance Nationals Outdoor Friday in 14:16:61. Ostbger's time is the fastest run in high school track this season and the second fastest all-time in the history of the event. Idaho's Elijah Armstrong finished nearly 13 seconds behind Ostberg, who recently helped Blue Wave boys track win its first State Open title since 1982. Members of the Wave team who qualified will be down at Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina through Sunday.
