The Darien boys cross country team placed fourth at the Woods Trail Run at Thetford Academy in Thetford, V.T. on Saturday. The team scored 176 points.

In front for the Blue Wave was the 1-2 combination of Alex Ostberg and Armstrong Noonan. Ostberg defeated the field by one minute en route to a time of 15:44, a new course record. The previous mark, 16:03, was set by Christian Alvarado of Fairfield Prep last fall. This was Ostberg's third course record this season. Noonan finished second in the race, running 16:45. Steady rain covered the course as the meet progressed.

Rounding out the team's top five were Arthur Cassidy (23rd overall, 17:43), Jack Consolini (75th, 18:38) and Jack Murray (86th, 18:43). Also running well were Brendan Triano (104th, 18:50) and Jackson Huffman (111th, 18:52).

"This was a good team experience for us," Darien coach Tyson Kaczmarek said. "However, if we are going to compete with the big boys this year, we still have to improve. I know we are more than capable of getting better."
