More than 1,700 customers who lost power across Fairfield County on Wednesday morning now have their service restored.
Around 5 a.m., United Illuminating reported 954 customers were without power in Shelton, 492 in Trumbull and 332 in Stratford.
At 6:40 a.m., UI reported that power was restored.
Eversource is reporting no power outages across the state.
Both UI and Eversource had crews ready in case Tropical Storm Jose tracked closer to Connecticut with stronger tropical force winds.
At 6 a.m., winds were blowing from the north at 21 mph at Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford and just 8 mph at Danbury airport.
Peak wind gusts since Tuesday were 31 at Sikorsky and Groton/New London airport; 30 at Tweed-New Haven in East Haven; 26 at Waterbury/Oxford airport; 25 at White Plains airport, near Greenwich; and 24 at Meriden airport.
A weakened Tropical Storm Jose spinning it the Atlantic south of Long Island will continue to give us breezy conditions on the last days of summer.
“Jose slowly moves south and east of the area on Wednesday and will remain offshore through Thursday,” according to the National Weather Service. “High pressure builds over the area Thursday and remains in place through early next week as Jose weakens and slowly meanders to our southeast.”
There is a coastal flood advisory for the Fairfield County shoreline until 2 p.m. Wednesday. High tides - around noon and midnight - will be between 1 and 2 feet above normal. Only minor flooding is available.
A small craft advisory is in effect for Long Island Sound until 6 p.m. on Thursday. North winds will be between 15 and 25 knots with gusts up to 35 knots possible. Conditions in the Sound get rougher the farther you sail east.
With less than two days of summer, temperatures will remain summerlike. Above normal temperatures are forecast despite the cloud cover with highs reaching the middle and upper 70s for most locations and the lower 80s. Fall officially beguns at 4:02 p.m. on Friday.
