Mapping recent Bay Area freeway shootings

California Highway Patrol Lieutenant Jason Reardon revealed during a Friday press conference that there have been roughly 80 freeway shootings in the Bay Area over the past 16 months.
The CHP held the press conference to announce the arrest of three suspects in Thursday's shooting on eastbound I-80 in Richmond that shut down the freeway for five hours and left two people wounded, one critically.
The Chronicle has reported on several highway shootings in the last 12 months. We created the above slideshow of maps to pinpoint where many of shootings took place. Many freeway shootings remain unsolved.
