SHELTON — Police have charged two Derby men in connection with a home invasion that occurred two days before Christmas.

Ray Sosa, 41, was arrested Thursday and charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery, conspiracy and criminal possession of a firearm.

Ricardo Llera was arraigned Wednesday at Superior Court in Derby on charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit home invasion and intimidating a witness.

Both men are being held on a $75,000 bond each; Sosa had already been incarcerated on unrelated charges.

A man and woman told police that two men had entered their Geissler Drive home on Dec. 23, and demanded money from them at gunpoint. The suspects stole cash, both victims’ cell phones and other items, Det. Richard Bango said. The victims were not harmed.

“A search warrant was executed at Sosa’s Minerva Street home and items taken from the home invasion were recovered,’’ Bango said. “The firearm used in the crime and the victims’ cell phones were also recovered’’

Llera personally knew the victims and was involved in planning the home invasion, the Shelton detective said.

The case is still under investigation by Shelton detectives and other arrests are expected.
