Darien Library is offering a six-week course beginning Monday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. on foundational memoir-writing skills.

During the course, participants will learn basic memoir-writing skills that will help them cultivate and organize their life happenings, turning their memories into engaging stories. The class is designed for writers looking for a comprehensive step-by-step approach to writing their memoirs. Lesson topics and helpful exercises will be given at each class to help students develop their storyline. Each class will include time for questions, and as the class progresses, the sharing and critiquing of each other's work. Reference materials will be provided.

The class is presented by Laura Cavers, who holds an MFA in creative writing from Manhattanville College. At Manhattanville, Cavers was assistant editor to the college's award-winning literary magazine, Inkwell. She is working on her first novel, "Bellwethers."

To register for the course, contact Mallory Arents at 203-669-5254.
