Bridgeport police: 3 shot on Wednesday
BRIDGEPORT — Three people, ages 16 to 23, were shot Wednesday evening, police spokesman Av Harris said Thursday.
Around 9:25 p.m., police responded to the area of Howard Place between Howard Avenue and Denver Avenue, Harris said.
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the mouth through and through, Harris said. He said an 18-year-old woman was shot in the back on her left shoulder. And a 23-year-old man was shot in the right hand and the left buttocks, Harris said.
It was unclear if the three shooting victims were all shot by the same person or in the same area, but police said only one crime scene was found.
Officers found a crime scene between Howard Avenue and Denver Avenue on Howard Place, Harris said. He said police found numerous shell casings. A K9 unit was brought to the scene but apparently could not pick up on any scents after the first block or two.
There was one car left in the middle of the street, Harris said, and another found parked on the north side of Howard Place with heavy damage on the driver’s side that was left running but unoccupied.
Around 12 a.m. Thursday, the driver of the car left running on Howard Place turned up at Bridgeport Hospital, Harris said. The 22-year-old drive had not been shot, but was complaining of pain to his left side and head. He said he heard gunshots and his car was hit by an unknown vehicle.
There was no further information Thursday afternoon.
