The Darien All-Town Orchestra Festival, which will take place at 6:30 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Darien High School, will feature more than 400 musicians.

In order to accommodate the large number of audience members, the Darien Public Schools Music Department has scheduled two performance seatings. Each program will last approximately 50 minutes.

Nearly 400 string students in grades four to 12 throughout the district have been preparing for their festival performances and will be involved in a combined rehearsal in the Darien High School main gym that same day.

The featured ensembles will include the combined Fourth and Fifth Grade Orchestra, the Middlesex Middle School Orchestras, the Middlesex Middle School Rockestra, the DHS Pops Strings and the DHS Orchestra. The program will conclude with a rousing finale featuring all 400 string students performing a version of an American hoedown song."

Admission is free but tickets are necessary by contacting any school orchestra teacher or calling 203-655-3981, ext. 2250.
