MILFORD — That’s the way the cookies crumble.

A driver mistakenly crashed his car into Kathy’s Famous Cookies & More bake shop, 252 Melba St., early Monday afternoon. There was no one seriously hurt, officials said.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. after the unidentified male driver lost control of his vehicle. The small SUV traveled over the curb and onto the side walk, striking the main entrance of a bakery located at 252 Melba St. The driver and a female passenger were transported by Milford Fire Paramedics to area hospitals for evaluation.

The main entrance of the business was badly damaged. Milford Police are investigating the incident.

The crash occurred just three weeks after a car smashed into two other stores in the same shopping plaza, The Crushed Grape package store and the Dollar General store on the other side of the parking lot.

In that case — which occurred on Super Bowl Sunday — the driver, Kenneth Longfield, 58, was arrested for driving under the influence. His car also struck a pedestrian causing a serious leg injury and Longfield is facing a shopping list of charges in court.

And, in 2015, a small SUV smashed into The Crushed Grape after the driver mistakenly stepped on the throttle instead of the brake.
