With another nor’easter now here, the following storm-related closings and restrictions are in place.


Most schools are closed today.

Among them, Ansonia, Bethel, Branford, Bridgeport, Brookfield, Clinton, Danbury, Derby, East Haven, Emmett O’Brien Tech, Fairfield, Guilford, Lauralton Hall, Litchfield, Madison, Milford, Monroe, Naugatuck, Nauagtuck Valley College, New Fairfield, New Haven, New Milford, Norwalk, Notre Dame in Fairfield and West Haven, Oxford, Regional School Districts 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19; Ridgefield, Seymour, Sherman, Southern Conneticut State University, Stamfiord, Stratford, Trumbull, UConn all campuses, University of Bridgeport all campuses, Wallingford, West Haven, Westbrook, Westport, Weston, Wilton, and Woodbridge.

Norwalk Communuty College will be closed on Tuesday and all activities are cancelled for the day.

All Sacred Heart University classes that begin before 5 p.m. on Tuesday are cancelled at all locations. Information regarding evening classes will be available later in the day. University offices are open.

Trains, buses, etc

Metro-North is operating on a regular schedule Tuesday morning. No delays are reported at this time.

It does have a winter weather advisory. “Please take care when traveling during inclement weather, allow for extra travel time, and use caution when entering and exiting trains, and on platforms and staircases.”

Because of the storm, commuters are advised to check websites for the most up-to-date information.

Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks is reporting that about 75 percent of Tuesday’s arriving and departing flights have been cancelled. Further cancellations are possible as the airlines continue to adjust their schedules in response to the storm.

Amtrak service will be temporarily suspended between Boston and New York City for the remainder of Tuesday, due to weather. Service will be restored if conditions improve.

State courts, offices

All Judicial Branch courts and offices will be closed on Tuesday.

State offices will be closed for the first shift on Tuesday.

Parking restrictions, snow routes

Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim has declared a snow emergency, and city services and departments closed at noon.

During the snow emergency, residents must move their cars off posted snow emergency streets. Alternate side of the street parking rules are in effect for all other streets throughout the city in order to allow snow plow drivers’ clear passage. Tuesday is an odd number day; therefore, residents should park on the side of the street with addresses that are odd numbers beginning tonight. In Milford, vehicles parked on city roads should be parked on the odd number side of the street on Tuesday. This alternate side of the street parking ban will be lifted at 6 a.m. Wednesday. This ban will allow plows to keep roads passable and accessible to emergency vehicles.

Garbage/Recycling pickup for Tuesday is postponed until Wednesday. Residents are asked to delay placement of totes at the curb as long as practically possible prior to the 6 a.m.pick-up on Wednesday.

In Trumbull, parking ban in effect from last night at 6 p.m. until snow is cleared. All Trumbull recreation activities canceled.

Derby Mayor Richard Dziekan has closed Derby City Hall, Derby Senior Center and the Derby Public Library will be closed on Tuesday

The Derby Municipal Parking Garage will be open, free of charge, for residents of downtown Derby during the snow storm. Residents are urged to park their vehicles there to make it easier for DPW crews to clear the streets.

There is no delay in garbage pick up due to snow storm.

The Connecticut State Police report that between 4 and 9:15 a.m. Tuesday there were calls for service: 312 calls for service, 26 crashes with no injuries, one crash with injuries and no reported fatalities. There were also 64 motorists who required assistance.

Other closings

Bethel town hall and library are closed Tuesday.

Danbury City Hall is closed Tuesday.

New Fairfield Town Hall will open at noon Tuesday.
