Anna Mae (Gibbs) Stites

Anna Mae (Gibbs) Stites, a 51-year resident of Darien and 10-year resident of Bethel and Newtown, died Dec. 2 at Maplewood ALF in Newtown. She was 92.
Born March 25, 1918, in Birmingham, N.J., Mrs. Stites was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Sophronia E. (Borel) Gibbs. She was married in Winchester Va. in 1940 for 52-years to the late Joseph Stites.
Mrs. Stites graduated from Bordentown High School in 1935 and Trenton Teacher's College in 1939. She was a former member of the Noroton Presbyterian Church, of Baker and Tokeneke School PTAs and Den Mother for BSA Cub Scout Packs 56 and 61.
Predeceased by her son Eric, survivors include four remaining children: David of St. Petersburg Fla.; Phillip of Andover N.J.; James of Bethel and Curtis of Brookfield, plus 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Following a private family memorial, interment will be at the Urn Garden of Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien. Memorial gifts may be made to the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Rd, Darien, CT 06820.
