After playing just one game in 22 days, and missing two straight days of practice due to snow, the Greens Farms Academy boys basketball team trekked to Rye Country Day on Saturday to pull out a 73-65 win over the Wildcats.

Senior Henry Holzinger (Westport) drained seven 3-pointers en route to a game-high 27 points to lead GFA to the win.

Cole Prowitt-Smith (Fairfield) netted 19 points in his return to action while Greg Lawrence (Fairfield) added 13. Jack Seegers (Stamford) and Bennett Close (Norwalk) added five each.

Lawrence hauled down 17 rebounds and blocked four shots while Prowitt-Smith and Holzinger combined for 13 assists with 7 and 6, respectively.


The GFA wrestling team competed this weekend at Nobles and Greenough School in Massachusetts in a quad meet.

The Dragons finished the day 3-0, defeating Nobles, Buckingham, Brown and Nicholas (BB&N) and Lawrence Academy.

The Dragons started the day against a tough BB&N squad and in a back-and-forth battle were able to edge them 46-36.

Next the Dragons wrestled Lawrence Academy and turned in a dominant 72-6 performance, only giving up a forfeit at Heavyweight. Last was the home team Nobles. The Dragons bumped to get the best matchups possible and were able to score a hard fought 45-30 victory.

Going undefeated on the day were Nico Provo (Stratford), CJ Shea (Milford), Sam Stuart (Fairfield), JC Foster (Darien) and Ross Mix (Darien.)

Foster who went 3-0 on the day with three pins.

The Dragons return to action this Friday against The Salisbury School at 4 p.m.
