DARIEN — A bed liner was stolen out of the back of a pickup truck in Darien, police said.

On Oct. 18, a Darien resident reported to police that a bed liner had gone missing from the back of his red 2000 Ford Ranger truck. The resident said he had parked his truck on the eastbound side of the Darien train station at 4 p.m. on Oct. 17 and returned at midnight.

The resident originally told police that he thought the liner went missing from the train station, but a followup investigation showed surveillance footage with the operator leaving and entering the station with the liner in place.

After leaving the train station, the resident returned to his home on Raymond Road where police believe the liner may have been stolen.

Nothing else was missing from the truck and the liner had been secured in the bed. The owner said he does not think it fell out. The liner was black and made out of hard plastic material. It had the word “rugged” written on it in red and is value at $250.Police said they have no suspects at this time and are still investigating the incident.
