Boys threw rocks, damaged fencing at Darien affordable housing complex
DARIEN — Two young boys are paying around $200 in damages after they were caught throwing rocks through fencing at The Heights, an affordable housing community in Darien.
Police responded to the criminal mischief complaint on Allen O’Neill Drive on April 13 around noon. At the site of the former Allen-O’Neill Homes, officers met with the Housing Authority director and complex custodian, who showed the officers the damage to the fence, as well as a cell phone video he took of the two young boys throwing rocks at the fence. The rocks caused fist-sized holes in the fencing.
Police identified the boys, aged seven and nine, and contacted their parents. The boys will repay the Housing Authority for the damage without police involvement.
