Bridgeporter charged with taking scrap metal

Robert Dudley, 46, of 683 Myrtle St., Bridgeport, was arrested on Tuesday, April 30, on a charge of sixth-degree larceny.
According to police, the larceny was reported on Monday, April 29, at Darien Auto Body, 159 West Ave., and the items reported taken from the exterior of the premises were scrap metal.
The total value was estimated at $300. Police said local scrap metal dealers were notified and at 2:30 p.m., a call was received from LaJoie's Scrap Yard in Norwalk. The employee reported that a man was at the yard attempting to sell scrap metal, which matched the description of the items taken from Darien Auto Body, according to the police. The man had received $55.20 as payment for the items, police said.

Norwalk police were contacted and detained Dudley until Darien police arrived to take him into custody, according to the report.
Dudley posted $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, May 10.
