Darien-based Alaia Capital has hired Steve Bodurtha as a senior executive to lead its launch of a platform offering registered funds with defined payouts.

Bodurtha most recently was managing director of Citi’s private banking group and has been a commentator on Bloomberg TV and CNBC. He has degrees from Wesleyan University and Harvard Business School.

Alaia Capital also brought in Steve Houston, who previously led Americas wealth management for Barclays.

Gofer Ice Cream pops up in Wilton

Gofer Ice Cream is opening its fifth location at 379 Danbury Road in Wilton, in space previously occupied by a Rockwell Art & Framing shop that is now in Wilton Center.

Gofer has year-round locations in Darien, Stamford and Greenwich, where it is based, as well as a seasonal location in the town’s Riverside neighborhood.

Building pros honored

The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Fairfield County will be awarding two Darien businesses for outstanding achievement in the local home building industry. The awards will be presented at an evening celebration on June 9 at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

The HBRA Awards are bestowed to members for excellence in new home construction, land development, remodeling, allied supplies and services, and volunteerism to the organization.

Michael Palumbo and Kent Eppley, from ERI Building & Design in Darien, earned Remodeler of the Year.

Associate council awards will go to Ken DeLeo and John Doherty, from Doherty & DeLeo Development in Darien.

Among other honorees were New Canaan-based Karp Associates, which nabbed the 2017 Builder of the Year award, and Marlin Electric in Fairfield, which earned Business of the Year.

SCORE Fairfield County will present a free webinar series, “‘Real World’ Time Management,” on Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m.

Cliff Ennico, the former host of “MoneyHunt” on PBS, will discuss time management in today’s world of modern technology. An attorney and small business consultant based in Fairfield, he has helped launch over 15,000 businesses and is the author of 16 books.

Grad gets hired

at Country School

New Canaan Country Day School has hired Holly Donaldson as director of alumni affairs, a job she will start July 1.

Donaldson attended the school.

Since 2011, Donaldson has served in various fundraising capacities for AmeriCares, the Stamford-based global disaster-relief and health organization, most recently as a development officer, a role in which she worked to boost a young leaders program.

Donaldson, who recently moved to New Canaan, has a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Hamilton College.
