Caroline L. Piacentini, a Darien resident, died Dec. 25 at her home surrounded by her family. She was 97.

Mrs. Piacentini was born March 23, 1913 in New Canaan, the daughter of the late Gaetano Guarino and Antoinette Pastore Guarino.

Mrs. Piacentini was a seamstress for 35 years having worked for Miss Anna's Dress Shop, Peter Rosa and Florence Dress all formerly of Stamford. She joined her husband, Fortuna, and worked at Fortune Metalcraft on West Avenue in Darien. She retired at the age of 65 after her husband passed away in 1978.

Mrs. Piacentini is survived by her daughter Carmella V. Piacentini; her sister, Yolanda Perugini and her husband Anthony; nieces Judy Ann Perugini, Angelina Fabricatore, Lorraine DeNicola; and nephews Louis and Frank Cannella, and Frank Blefari. She was predeceased by her husband, sisters Mary Cannella, Rose Blefari, Lucy Piacentini-Plomitallo; and brother Anthony W. Guarino.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Laure, Celina, Jacqueline and Racquel.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Church, 1986 Boston Post Road, Darien. Interment followed in St. John's Cemetery, Darien. Relatives and friends called at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, Tuesday, Dec. 28.
