The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for Southern Fairfield County, which will be in effect until 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2.

According to the NWS, "high residual water levels and astronomically high tides and deepening low pressure over the Atlantic will result in minor flooding for the high tide cycle this morning."

The advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

The rest of the day's forecast looks favorable for early March, with partly cloudy skies and a high near 44 degrees. There's a chance of rain and snow showers before 7 p.m., followed by a chance of up to a half an inch of snow. According to the NWS, the chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
