Counterfeit bills passed at Post Road businesses
DARIEN — Police are investigating counterfeit bills used at two Post Road businesses.
On Nov. 30, three black men went to Gofer Ice Cream were they each ordered ice cream, each costing less than $6. Each man paid for their own ice cream using a $50 bill and got change.
The men later went to the restaurant Ten Twenty Post. They sat at the bar and each ordered a drink costing $11.70. Each asked for separate checks and paid with a $50 bill. Each man got change.
Around 5 p.m., the incident was reported to police.
The United States Secret Service, which investigates counterfeit currency, has been notified.
