DCA hosts Les Julian, offers entertaining advice

The Darien Community Association Mom’s Morning In program will host a performance by Les Julian on Friday, Nov. 20.
Julian brings his songs to life with his rubbery storyteller’s face, elastic voice, guitar pyrotechnics, chameleon wit and joy. The award-winning recording artist, singer/songwriter/guitarist/family entertainer has won a four Parent’s Choice Awards and two NAPPA-National Association of Parenting Publications Awards. He recently appeared on the Grammy-winning compilation CD, “All About Bullies Big and Small.”
The DCA’s Mom’s Morning In program is designed for parents, caregivers and grandparents with energetic toddlers/preschoolers. For the 2015-2016 school year, activities are held once a month (previously held weekly), and always features some sort of performance or activity, offering youngsters an engaging morning of fun.
Les Julian will perform at 10 a.m. and reservations are not required. Fees are $10 per child per activity. The full calendar can be found at dariendca.org . The DCA is at 274 Middlesex Road.

Holiday entertaining tips
The session will be hosted by event planner, entertaining columnist and DCA Catered Events Coordinator Laura Boulton along with one of the DCA’s preferred caterers, Victoria Truchan of Country House Cuisine.
Boulton will share her tips for entertaining at Christmas and present holiday tablescapes. Truchan will discuss holiday cocktail party menus and showcase food presentations. Guests will be invited to sample a few of her creations before a lunch provided by Carolyn’s Absolutely Fabulous Events.
This event is $20 per person, or $15 for DCA members, and includes lunch and dessert. Prepayment is required by noon on Monday, Nov. 30, and can be made at dariendca.org, or by contacting the DCA at 203-655-9050. The DCA is at 274 Middlesex Road in Darien.
