The Darien Nature Center is taking registration for all of its fall programs.

The programs range from Mommy and Me to weekday drop-off enrichment classes for ages 2 to 5 to after-school nature adventure classes.

For the youngest nature enthusiasts, the center offers:

"Knee-hi to Nature," a Mommy and Me program for 2-year-olds. Children and their caretakers will explore trails, learn about animals and enjoy craft projects together. Children learn socialization skills while exploring the wonders of nature.

"Nature Time for Twos," a drop-off program for 2-year-olds, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and consists of up to eight children in a classroom with two teachers. Children take hikes on the trails, meet a variety of animals and do craft projects.

"Animal ABCs and 123s," also for 2-year-olds, introduces children to letters and numbers as they meet different animals and explore the natural world around them. The drop-off program meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Nature's Playroom for 3- and 4-year-olds runs through Dec. 13 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Children are invited to stay until 1 p.m. for Lunch Bunch. Early drop-off is available. Designed to complement a child's nursery school experience, children may register for one day per week only. Afternoon sessions are available. Children may be registered for the fall session only or receive a discount for signing up for the entire year.

Another popular program for 3- and 4-year-olds is Critters and Kids. Children will meet all of the center's animals and explore those living outside as well. The program runs from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Children have the option of staying for Lunch Bunch and may be registered for one day of Critters and one day of Nature's Playroom.

For the older students, the center offers:

Animal Caretakers Club, designed for children in grades 1 to 6 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Nature Detectives, for grades 1 to 3, held on Mondays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Trail Trekkers, an outdoor exploration program for children in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Fridays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.
