Fourteen artists will visually express that "Words Matter" in the Wilson Avenue Loft Artists art exhibition which opens with a reception Friday, June 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Wilton Library.

"Each artist will bring her own unique interpretation of the theme to the exhibit, Darien artist Lori Glavin said. "While many works will include words or letter forms, others are influenced by poetry or prose. The participating artists work in various media including oils and acrylics, drawings, collages, printmaking and mixed media."

The artists in the show represent surrounding towns as follows: Britt Bair, Lori Glavin, Dana Goodfellow, Mary Manning, Pamela Lindberg, Vicki French Smith and Diane Weeks from Darien; Susan Cutler Tremaine from New Canaan; Randi Jane Davis and Elise Mills from Ridgefield; Hanneke Goedkoop from Rowayton; Claudia Mengel of Westport; Nancy McTague-Stock and Ruth Ipe from Wilton. Bair and Glavin formed Wilson Avenue Loft Artists, LLC in early 2007 and started to work with a team of architects, lawyers and staff to create a space for artists to work.

"We are very proud to be part of a thriving Norwalk arts scene," Glavin said. "Our members are accomplished professional artists who in addition to making art, also contribute to the community as educators, arts advocates and volunteers."

The majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Wilton Library. The reception is open to the public. The exhibition runs through Friday, June 29.
