Darien designers crafting tablescapes for benefit

Darien designers Carey Karlan and Jane Ellsworth are each designing one of 30 tablescapes for the Metro New York North Chapter of the American Red Cross' annual Red & White Ball on Saturday, May 11, at the NetJets Hanger of the Westchester Airport.
The designs for this year's theme, "Help Today, Hope for Tomorrow," will be done by Fairfield County designers, builders, florists and retailers, such as Catherine Cleare, Connie Cooper, Kim Freeman, Rachel Laxer, Sandra Morgan, Susanna Salk, Hoagland's, AKDO and Baccarat.

Proceeds from the Red & White Ball allow the Metro New York North Chapter to provide immediate humanitarian aid -- food, shelter, financial assistance, temporary housing, mental health support and emergency supplies -- to those in need.
