The Darien High School ski team overcame the fog and 50-degree temperature to do well in its second race of the season against Southington, Glastonbury, Berlin, Ridgefield and Hand at the Mt. Southington Ski Area on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

With a time of 316.51, the girls varsity team finished second by defeating Berlin (DSQ), Glastonbury (330.74), Hand (343.18) and Southington (393.87) while losing to Ridgefield (310.39).

With a time of 285.68, the boys varsity team finished third by defeating Berlin (DSQ), Hand (326.19) and Southington (289.88) while losing to Glastonbury (280.89) and Ridgefield (274.90).

The girls top finishers this week were co-captain Fay Rizzuto (48.82), Katharine Graham (49.90), Taylor Hart (50.46), Courtney Kyritz (54.79), co-captain Kelsey Edgar (55.90), Abby Howe (56.64), Caitlin Keady (61.19), Adriana Dziedzic (63.65), Madison Maier (64.07) and Bridget Lattimer (67.61).

The boys' top finishers this week were co-captain Peter Del Col (44.68), Will McCoy (46.88), Mike Rizzuto (47.20), co-captain Chris Brophy (47.76), Matt Nelson (48.75), Graham Lesko (50.41), Chris von Stuelpnagel (51.61), Nick Howe (53.29), Nick Wolf (53.46) and Miller Corey (54.32).
