Police: Darien man reselling alcohol to teens at marked-up price

DARIEN — A 51-year-old Darien man was arrested after police found he had allegedly been acting as a middleman in purchasing alcohol for local teenagers.
Mark Yarish was arrested at his Cherry Street home July 21 and taken into custody on felony charges of providing alcohol to minors and risk of injury to a minor.
According to evidence provided to police, Yarish had been taking orders for alcohol from local teens through texts or phone calls. Yarish would then fulfill the teens’ orders at local liquor stores and give the alcohol to the minors at a marked-up price. Over the past two months, police investigated the claims, finding Yarish was often supplying local teens. and were granted a warrant for his arrest.
Darien Police got a warrant for the 51-year-old man’s arrest. Yarish was taken into custody and posted a $40,000 bond July 23. He is due in state Superior Court in Stamford July 31 and has been ordered not to have contact with any minors until then.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and they will not be releasing further information at this time.
