Darien man allegedly damaged property at Maple Street home
DARIEN — A 27-year-old man allegedly damaged property inside a home on Maple Street.
Matthew Reilly was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer on Aug. 31 after police were called about a domestic disturbance.
The owners of the house told Darien police they were awakened on the day of the incident by Reilly entering their room and going through a nightstand. When he was asked what he was doing, Reilly began destroying property in the bedroom, at which point the police were called and Reilly left the house.
As police arrived on the scene around 10 a.m., officers saw Reilly approaching the home and questioned him. Reilly attempted to walk away from questioning and, after repeated attempts by police to keep him from walking away, threatened to run away, according to a police report.
Reilly, of Maple Street, was arrested and transported to the hospital for evaluation.
