DARIEN — Police charged a 60-year-old Darien man with drunk driving after he was caught speeding down Old Kings Highway South Jan. 20.

Around 1:20 a.m., an officer observed a gray 2016 BMW X3 going 45 miles per hour down Old Kings Highway South near Mccrea Lane. The speed limit on the road is 25 miles per hour and the officer saw the back of the car flying off the road as the driver, Russell Warm, sped over the speed humps. The officer pulled Warm over and smelled alcohol on his breath. Warm admitted he had been drinking and performed a field sobriety test, which he failed.

Warm, of Devonshire Drive, was charged with driving under the influence and driving unreasonably fast. He was taken to police headquarters where he declined to take a breath test. Warm posted a $500 cash bond and was released around 5:30 a.m. He was issued a court date of Jan. 30. His vehicle was towed from the road.
