Darien man charged with burglary, criminal mischief
Dariusz Lesniewski, 37, of 4 Devonshire Drive was arrested on June 13 on charges of criminal attempt of second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace.
At approximately 1 a.m., police received a call reporting that a male was trying to enter a Glenwood Drive residence by forcing open the front door, according to the report.
Police said when officers arrived, they saw Lesniewski walking nearby. The Glenwood Drive resident told police he was awakened by the sounds of banging on his front door and then saw that Lesniewski had damaged the door to the point where some of the panels had broken free, according to the report.
The resident said he saw Lesniewski was attempting to reach in and unlock the door, during which time Lesniewski was yelling, said police.
Police said Lesniewski's wife reported that her husband had learned that she had spoken with the Glenwood Drive resident earlier in the day as she was walking around the neighborhood with her children. Police said apparently Lesniewski was angered by this, causing his actions.
He was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on June 13.
