Darien man recovering from injuries after vehicle severed utility pole

A 19-year-old Darien man was injured after he crashed his vehicle on Brookside Road near Granaston Lane, police said.
The man was driving a Chevy Suburban north on Brookside Road when his vehicle left the road where it struck and severed a utility pole and then hit a stonewall and several trees, police said. The man was the only occupant in the vehicle. He was taken to Stamford Hospital where he was in stable condition, police said.
The Darien Police Accident Investigation Team was continuing to investigate the accident, police said. Brookside Road was closed until noon while Connecticut Light & Power replaced the utility pole.
