A 27-year-old man witnessed a person burglarizing his mother's car on Hillside Avenue in the early morning on July 7, according to police.

The complainant told police that he had been in his car -- which was parked next to her's -- smoking a cigarette around 4:30 a.m., when he saw the internal lights go on, police said.

He then saw a male rummaging through her car and yelled to him, "Hey, what are you doing?" according to the report.

The individual -- described as a black male between the ages of 18 and 22 --then ran and entered a car that was parked in the complainant's driveway and left, police said.

Nothing was missing from the car and there were no other motor vehicle burglaries reported that evening, police said.
