DARIEN — Police are issuing a traffic advisory to motorists driving in the area of Tokeneke School on Oct. 15. The school will be hosting its annual Pumpkin Fair and Old Farm Road at Tokeneke Road will be closed to all incoming traffic.

“Although the Police Department does understand that this roadway restriction may cause some minor delay or inconvenience, we have found that past parking and traffic conditions on Old Farm Road during this event were unacceptable from a traffic and safety standpoint,” Darien police said in a statement. “This traffic and parking pattern should make travel through the area safer for all.”

Between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., the road will be open to outgoing traffic only. All residents and guests are advised to enter the Tokeneke area through Arrowhead Way, Driftway Lane or Five Mile River Road.

Those attending the fair can park at Colangelo Group (120 Tokeneke Road) or Zoto’s International at 100 Tokeneke Road. Some parking will also be permitted on Tokeneke Road as posted. There will be no parking on Old Farm Road or on any private road of the Tokeneke Association. Tokeneke Park police will be patrolling the area at this time.

Darien police officers will be present at the event to assist motorists and pedestrians. The rain date for the event is Oct. 16.
