Darien's Saturday forecast: A wet weekend
What is expected to be a wet weekend in southwestern Connecticut began early this morning under cloudy skies and light rain in the offing by midday, according to the National Weather Service.
Despite the damp outlook, the temperature today will be mild, reaching a high of about 50 degrees. There will be a south wind between 10 and 17 mph.
The prospect of rain continues tonight, as the low temperature falls only to about 40 degrees.
Tomorrow will also be rainy, the NWS warns in a hazardous weather outlook, but the precipitation should be heavier -- at times even downpours driven by winds gusting up to about 50 mph. That could trigger some flooding, according to the weather service, when runoff from the heavy rain combines with melting snow.
The temperature, however, will continue to be mild, registering in the low-50s.
Rain remains in the forecast Monday morning, mainly before 1 p.m., the NWS says. The day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 43 degrees.
A break in the clouds and rain is expected Tuesday, which the NWS predicts will be mostly sunny, with a high near 42.
