The Darien High School ski team raced on Wednesday, Feb. 16, against New Canaan, Litchfield, Staples and Cheshire at the Mt. Southington Ski Area. The Blue Wave girls lost to Staples and defeated Cheshire, bringing their record to 9-4. The DHS girls' time was 316.79, Staples was 308.66, and Cheshire was disqualified.

The boys' time was 307.01. They defeated New Canaan's time of 307.12, defeated Litchfield's time of 308.53 and lost to Cheshire's time of 296.90, moving their record to 9-9.

The girls' times this week were again paced by co-captain Meg Del Col at 47.51, followed by co-captain Natalie Rowe at 51.67, Kyle McCoy at 52.89, co-captain Dana Howe at 54.34, Allison Graham at 54.89, Kendall Kyritz at 55.49, Abby Howe at 55.77, Kailin Edgar at 55.87 and Kelsey Edgar at 57.81.

The boys' times this week were paced by co-captain Brady Collins at 48.56, Will McCoy at 49.57, co-captain at Chris Brophy 51.17, Peter Del Col at 51.39, Andy Mogenson at 52.11, Nick Wolf at 54.21, Graham Lesko at 55.51 and Nick Howe at 55.96. "The team worked hard and skied well," Darien coach Brian Zeyer said. "They dealt with a broken lift and climbed the hill to the start for the second run. The girls have qualified for the year--end State competition."
