Darien students' achievements cited

Karen Singer-Freeman was one of five from Purchase College, State University of New York, named as recipients of the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence. She received an award for teaching. Singer-Freeman is an associate professor of psychology in Purchase's School of Natural and Social Sciences.

Sestak, who was a goalie on the school's ice hockey team, recently completed his junior year in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and was recognized by the department for "taking risks within the creative and analytical approaches to English."
Renee Hodenfield, a first-year student in the new media design and imaging program in the Rochester Institute of Technology's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, was named to the dean's list for the spring quarter.
Caitlin Marie Doak, a sophomore environmental studies major at Dickinson College, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. A graduate of Downers Grove North High School, she is the daughter of Daniel Doak and Breda O'Connell Doak.
