"From the Rough," a movie produced by Darien resident Michael J. Critelli and his son, Michael A. Critelli, will be screened Thursday, Sept. 11, at the Darien Library, 1441 Post Road.

The 7 p.m. presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Michael Sr., who was the lead producer, and Michael Jr., the screenwriter.

The film tells the story of Catana Starks, who made history as the first African-American woman to coach a men's college golf team. The 2014 film stars Taraji P. Henson, Michael Clarke Duncan and Tom Felton.

Michael Sr. said in an interview with the Darien News in April, "I've been a longtime believer in diversity and inclusion and opportunities for women and women of color. The idea that a short, soft-spoken African-American woman could coach successfully a men's team at the college level in a sport that is historically hostile to women and people of color was intellectually interesting in the beginning, because I wondered how she did it.

"The more I learned about her, the more remarkable a person she became to me."
