Friends For Grace fundraiser at DHS

The Friends For Grace will be back in action at the Darien High School football team's homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2:30 p.m. Grace Wohlberg, who had brain surgery to stop incurable epileptic seizures in February, will be recognized during the captain's coin toss at the beginning of the game. Wohlberg's brother, Michael, is one of the senior captains of the team.

A town resident, whose name the Darien News is withholding, donated $50,000 to the DHS athletic department. The donor asked the if Grace Wohlberg could walk out with her brother on homecoming.

Two close friends of the Wohlberg Family, Jill Walker and Karen Dunn, are organizing fundraising activities during the game that will be "manned" by Wohlberg's friends at Middlesex Middle School who will be wearing Team Grace T-shirts. Friendship bracelets will be on sale and a bake sale will take place during the game to help raise awareness for RE, a disease that primary impacts children.
