"The Penguins of Madagascar" will be screened Dec. 1 at the Darien Playhouse as a benefit for the Darien Human Services Department's holiday gift drive.

The movie will be shown at 4:15 p.m., and admission is free of charge, although those attending are each asked to bring gift donations instead of paying admission.

Organizers are looking for the following kinds of donations: a new toy, gift cards (at stores such as Target, Walgreens, Barnes & Nobles, Wal-Mart, CVS, Subway and local restaurants and food stores). All donated items should be new and unwrapped with a value of at least $10 each.

The event is being sponsored by the Selectman's Office, Darien Youth Commission, the town's Human Services Department, the Depot's Helping Hands Club and the movie theater.

For tickets, an adult should come to the Youth Commission office in Town Hall's Room 110 on Monday, Dec. 1. Tickets will be issued for admission. Movie-goers should bring tickets and gifts to the theater for admission; theater doors will open at 3:45 p.m. Based on availability, tickets also may be available at the theater.

All children must be accompanied by an adult, and at least one adult for groups of four children is required. Tickets and donated gifts are required for adult movie-goers as well.
