Hit-and-run driver leaves Darien teen in critical condition
DARIEN -- Darien police are looking for the driver of a silver Toyota Camry that struck a teen on Hoyt Street and took off.
The 15-year-old boy is listed in critical condition at Stamford Hospital with severe head injuries, according to a statement issued by Darien police.
Police said the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday on Hoyt Street near St. John's Cemetery.
Police said the Darien teen was walking on the side of Hoyt Street when he was struck by a newer model Camry traveling north.
The vehicle slowed, but did not stop, police said.
Darien paramedics rushed the teen to Stamford Hospital for treatment, police said.
Police closed Hoyt Street for nearly four hours while the department's Accident Investigation Unit investigated the scene.
