DARIEN — Close to 1,000 volunteers took the time this weekend to keep others from going hungry.

For the eighth year in a row the Greater Churches of Darien hosted the nonprofit Feed My Starving Children. People took time to help fill food packets with a nutritious combo meal that only required hot water—about 200,000 packets that will be going overseas to help those in need.

“You can make a big difference by spending two hours of your day helping,” said Lea Ann Roberson, publicity chairman for the event.

The organization services 70 different countries.
