DARIEN — Art history melded with culture Friday when the Darien Library held a Frida Friday art activity for kids in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

A group of kids were introduced to the story and work of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, then got a chance to grab brushes and paint their own self portraits.

“We are just trying to bring awareness to the really amazing culture,” said Samantha Cardone, children program coordinator.

“I think it’s good for kids to experience art,” she said, “and it’s good to experience the art from different cultures.”
