Letter: Gratitude from Person-to-Person
To the editor,
For nearly 50 years, Person-to-Person (P2P) has been delivering emergency services and providing basic necessities to individuals and families in Lower Fairfield County.
Throughout the communities we serve there are thousands of low-income families and individuals in need of assistance, including people who do not qualify for government assistance but whose incomes are below the basic cost of living threshold. They are our neighbors; their children attend local schools; we work and worship with them. They come to P2P for emergency services such as food, clothing or financial assistance to meet their immediate need. They come to P2P for help achieving long-term goals, which we provide through counseling and referrals or with scholarships for summer camp and college.
Whether we are providing a family with warm clothing or helping a person find employment, we are able to do so because individuals, organizations, schools and businesses volunteer their time, donate clothing and food, or make a cash contribution to P2P.
As a key social services agency that is providing a safety net for under-resourced families and individuals in Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton, we are optimistic that, because of your generosity and support of the P2P mission, in the coming year we will be able to continue our work transforming lives and building a stronger community.
On behalf of the thousands of people we will be able to help — because so many among us are willing to share what they have with others who do not have the same financial means or opportunity — we offer our sincere gratitude.
Happy New Year to you all!
