To the Editor:

I usually enjoy Jim Cameron’s knowledgeable thoughts on transportation issues in Fairfield County. And so I was surprised to read his Jan. 13 column where he stated little sympathy for people who live near noisy highways and airports.

As someone who has enjoyed living in Darien before Interstate 95 pushed through our peaceful town, I think it is the responsibility of those who caused the problem to fix it. Jim’s ideas to fix the problem are good ones, but they are still on the drawing board.

The people who live on Old Kings Highway South and Locust Hill Road had to suffer many, many years until the road builders built the sound barriers. The barriers and the many new trees have done a lot to improve the neighborhood. I give thanks for a job well done.
