On Sunday, the Darien Democratic Town Committee will showcase the community's artists and small businesses at its 26th annual lobster bake.

"We are proud of our small businesses and local talent. We have such a variety of original artists and entrepreneurial endeavors," said event chairman Jo-Ann Sawitsky. "I think local vendor contribution gives our event a warm, community feel."

This year, a few local artists and art related businesses will offer their work for auction.

Darien artists Lisa Thoren and Nobu will once again display their art by donating work and contributing to the event. Thoren will donate a painting for the auction and Nobu will offer discounts for home and pet portraits.

Artist Pierre Lahaussois will contribute a photograph with a seaside theme for the auction, and Suma CM will contribute a painting for the silent auction.

Ann Marenakos, of Adelaide Fine Art of Darien, will donate her professional fine art valuation services to the auction.

Photographic Solutions will take an old family photo and restore if for the winning bidder.

Several businesses will also donate to the silent auction: Jordan Caterers will cater a dinner for four; Darien's only family-owned community grocer, Palmers Market, will cater a romantic dinner for two; Scena will contribute a lunch for two; Cafe D'Azur, a new French and Mediterranean restaurant on the Post Road, will offer a gift certificate; 1020 Post will donate a dinner for two; Matzuri will offer several gift certificates; The Melting Pot will offer a gift certificate for dessert; Dr. Christine L.
