Hilarino Sanchez, 27, of 15 Bailey Ave. was arrested on Wednesday, May 1, on charges of sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer after trying to avoid paying for a cab and dinner, according to police.
At approximately 10 p.m., police said, officers were dispatched to the area of the Post Road and Day Street on the report of a verbal argument between two people.
It was discovered that one of the people was a driver for Stamford Taxi and that he had picked up Sanchez at the Stamford train station and brought him to Bodega Taco Bar, police said. Once at Bodega, Sanchez told the driver to wait while he went inside, police said.

After 30 minutes, Sanchez left the establishment, looked at the taxi and started running west on the Post Road, the driver told police. The driver pursued him on foot and during the chase, Sanchez dropped his cell phone, which the driver picked up, police said. Sanchez stopped running and demanded that the driver hand over the cell phone, but the driver refused.
Police said Sanchez did not intend to pay the $45 cab fare and they learned he ordered beer and food at Bodega totaling $46.80, but had walked out of the restaurant without paying the bill.
Sanchez resisted police efforts to arrest him and had to be forcibly restrained and handcuffed, according to the report.
He posted $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 13.
