Maritime Aquarium to hold fifth-annual classic in Darien

Tee up on Monday, Oct. 5 and help make exciting environmental-education programs available to area schools by participating in The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk’s fifth annual Golf Classic.
Foursomes and individual golfers can register now for this fun day at the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien. Proceeds support The Maritime Aquarium’s scholarship efforts to connect cash-strapped schools that need subsidies for Aquarium programs and for busing.
Even more enticing is the chance to win a Maserati Ghibli S Q4, made available by Miller Motorcars in Greenwich. Sink a hole-in-one on Wee Burn’s par-3 seventh hole and drive home in the sleek and elegant sportscar, valued at $79,150. That would be hitting a perfect drive to win a perfect drive.
Two other par-3 holes have prizes during the aquarium event: a hole-in-one on 15 wins a seven-day Caribbean cruise for two; and a birdie on four wins two roundtrip American Airlines tickets for anywhere in the continental U.S.
The Maritime Aquarium Golf Classic includes carts, a barbecue lunch, refreshments, post-play hors d’oeuvres and dinner, a silent auction and other fantastic prizes. Registration/bag drop begins at 10:30 a.m. and lunch opens at 11 a.m., with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.
Opportunities range from $15,000 as official naming sponsor with two foursomes to $1,000 as an individual player or $1,000 as a hole sponsor.
Chairman of the Golf Classic is Aquarium Trustee Charlie Hinnant of Rowayton.
