Math for merriment at Ox Ridge
Ox Ridge second graders enjoyed a special math activity recently in Sandy Henry's class. Four parent volunteers led small groups of second-graders in four different games: Count Across, Count Down, Quick Count and a memory game involving pictures of analog and digital clocks.
Count Across and Count Down were created by board game publisher Cadaco. Henry got the idea to put together math-infused entertainment after discovering the old games in the cabinet of her classroom. She dusted them off and used them to get the kids adding, subtracting and counting numbers every which way for an hour.
