A cellphone was reported stolen Aug. 16 from the Melting Pot, 17 Grove St., Darien, police said.

The manager of the restaurant told police that between 3:45 and 4 p.m., she left her iPhone 5s in a bathroom stall, police said. At 4 p.m. she realized she didn't have her phone and at 4:10 p.m. attempted to ping it but realized it had been turned off, police said.

At 8:37 p.m., she again attempted to ping the phone and found that it was connected to a WiFi spot at a location in Litchfield County, police said.

The manager called the state trooper for that region and found that the address belonged to a boarding school for juvenile delinquents, police said.

The state trooper went to the school and recovered the phone from a staff member who had found it, police said.

The phone was returned to the complainant.
