DARIEN —The gold wedding and engagement rings reported missing from an assisted-living facility on Ledge Road have been found.

According to a statement from Janis Knorr, the executive director at Atria Darien, the jewelry was found among the woman’s belongings with the help of staff members and the Darien police.

“We are very happy to report that the missing jewelry belonging to one of our residents has now been found, as we expected,” Knorr said in a statement. “Any time such an incident occurs, it is important to us to explore every possible avenue, including conducting our own internal investigation and contacting local law enforcement.

“I’m grateful to our staff for their quick action and efforts to locate the missing items, and to our local police department for their assistance in the matter,” she added. “The security and well-being of our residents, and their belongings, are always our top priorities.”

On Feb. 16 a 97-year-old woman from Atria Assisted Living called police to report her wedding and engagement rings were missing. The woman told police she took the rings off before going to bed Feb. 9 and the following day, she noticed the rings were gone. She thought the rings might have been misplaced, but when she was unable to find them after several days, she called police.
